THE SOCIALIST PARTY strives to establish a radical democracy that places people's lives under their own control - a non-racist, classless, feminist socialist society... where working people own and control the means of production and distribution through democratically-controlled public agencies; and where the production of society is used for the benefit of all humanity, not for the private profit of a few. We believe socialism and democracy are one and indivisible.

The Memphis Socialist Party, a local chapter of the Socialist Party-USA, was established in October 2008. The SP-USA is a multi-tendency revolutionary socialist organization committed to radical democracy, which rejects the current system where all workers are exploited in the name of profit; production is ever-increasing along with manufactured consumer demand despite finite resources; distribution of goods and services is irrationally unequal; and where our system of economic oppression reinforces racism, sexism, heterosexism, and all forms of bigotry, creating false divisions among the people.

Memphis suffers deeply from the effects of capitalism; the struggle against inequality has left scars in the fabric of our city.
